Facing Goliath - Sunday School

Don't forget teen guys this coming Sunday to bring your Sunday School book to class as we continue our study on the life of David. This Sunday our lesson is called "Dare to Accept Correction." Last week we saw a man who we often look up to was even capable of choosing sin. The reality is that we will all at times choose to follow temptation into the depths of sin. How do you react to the Lord when the correction comes? Are you willing to allow God to lead you to a Repentant heart as David had and be Restored and Relieved. Be sure to be in your place this coming Sunday. There is no better place to be than in church on Sunday!

Glow in the Dark is Back in 2015

The year 2014 is almost over!  How has your Bible reading gone this year?  I hope that many of you will be able to completely read your Bible through this year.  More importantly, I hope that God has been able to have many victories in your life this year because of the power of His Word.  I truly believe all of us can put more effort into our Bible reading everyday in order to gain more from God's Word.  We can easily read a few chapters and be finished for the day.  How much are you letting it enter your heart and really begin to work is the question.  Journals are a good way to really apply what you have read and also challenge us to see what God is trying to teach us each day.

In the year 2015, I would like each one of our teenagers to receive a bi-monthly "Glow in the Dark" devotional as well as a "Glow Companion."  I believe these tools, if used properly, will be effective in helping each teenager become stronger and more mature in their walk with the Lord.  To help with the cost of these books, we are asking that every teen pay $20 to cover the entire year.  This does not completely cover the cost but will help to offset the cost.  Please be sure to get your devotional books and your Bible and be ready for God to do a great work in your heart in 2015!

All New to Me

Well, its official.  I have started a blog for the Anchor Baptist Church Youth Group.  At this point I am not really sure what I am going to say on it as I kind of feel like the boy on the left.  Hopefully there will be a few people interested in knowing what is going on in the youth ministry of our church.  I have never been one to say much online but let's begin with this.  I want to encourage each of our teenagers to keep up to date by way of this blog on the events and activities of our church youth group.  Every teenager needs to be a part of a church youth group, especially those in the church.  I believe God will work through the Christian fellowship and teaching during the opportunities we have together.  Please take time as these posts are put out to read and to consider how as a teenager or an adult you can let the Lord shape you into what HE wants you to be!
